I have had several old 60's B series GMC's that I have scrapped out. I keep the torsion bars to build hay spikes out of. Save the two pieces that are riveted to the frame and the bars.Weld the riveted pieces onto a good chunk of 4x6 tubing, point the ends and add a 3 point, you've got a nice 2 prong hay fork that'll handle any bale you throw at it,you can also use it as a set of light pallet forks. I had one gmc I drove for 6 years or so,it came with good ball joints and I drove it till they got loose.

I still chuckel a bit when I think about my only experience with one of those.
A few years ago I got a 62 chevy tilt cab on trade with a bad transmissiom and other problems, but still looked worth repairing. One big problem was that the 4 ball joints in that torsion bar suspension were very worn. I checked with the local parts place to see if ball joints were still avalible for this truck. The guy said the joints were avalible and would cost $416. I said, yeah,I suspected those joints could be near $100 each. The parts guy said NO,$416 EACH !!!. That settled it,I junked the truck.
