Anyone know if this 6 volt battery might be positive ground?

I grew up around Chevy trucks from 1947 to my 1983. To the best of my knowledge Chevrolet never did use any positive ground systems.

Having said that, I really don't know about a GMC, but I would expect it to be the same as Chevys.

You can probably look at the battery cables ends to see which has the larger diameter hole. The larger terminal is always the positive terminal.
