Believe it or not I have a complete (pan to carb) 235 with 3 spd. tran out of a '61 chev 1/2 ton. It ran when it was pulled and has been on my engine rack for years. Never found a project for it yet. I'd sell if your interested, but you'd have to pick it up here. (20 miles SE of Windsor Ont.)

A step side? So you have a half ton or a three quarter ton? six bolt wheels or eight bolt wheels? Either way, most of these trucks used the 235c.i. Chevy Six. used from 1962 back to roughly 1952, in cars and small trucks. Or you can put in about whatever you want, that engine compartment is pretty good sized. If you surf the classic chevy sites, you'll find break downs of your vehicles serial no. Don't bother general motors, they care about today and tomorrow, not what was built 45 years ago.

thanks for the reply
my problem is the 235 sets back about three inches off the cross member, doest seem to fit properly
it works fine though. i do know that it comes out of 1967 (the 235) you think thats why it doesnt fit properly?
also its a six lug, i/2 ton . if i went with a 283 do you think it would affect the point value? other than the motor and tranny all numbers match.
i appreciate the advise.
thanks jimmy

In 1963 the engine was changed considerably, block, everything, if you have a 1967 engine, its a 230 or a 250, maybe a 292. motor mount location, bell housing, all was changed, without modifying things, you'll have to find a 235 engine, from a 62 or older vehicle. The car engines will fit too. may have to watch the oil pan sump, on some engines, may not clear your cross member. john
