Here's the story: I got two dump trucks-a 1951 ford 1 ton and a 1955 chevy 2 ton. I was left these machines along with some others as part of my inheritance when my dad died. They have been sitting in NY state for about 5 years-my dad was the last one who messed with them-they were his babies-he loved big toys! Well last night I had a friend go up there and try to get them going-with a little prime, and new gas the ford fired right up-ran smooth, hydrolics worked perfectly to lower the dump, etc. I'm very excited about this-people said I was wasting my time and money messing with them, I'm glad I didn't listen to them! I'll soon have a little piece of history and a big part of my dad with me. Thought I'd share this with others that might be in a similar situation-don't give up and if you feel it is right in your heart-do it you won't regret it. |

| That's great, Lori. I've often wished I had one of my Dad's trucks or tractors. Just make sure that before you get out on the highway with it, that the brakes are in working order, and it might not hurt to take a fire extinguisher along for the ride the first few times, just in case the mice decided to remove the insulation from some wires. |

| Hi Big fred-your always so nice and return posts! Yes sir we checked the brakes-it has none! we had it towed to a near by town and I hired a driver to haul it down here in TN. I can't wait to see it and sit in it-I'm sure there will be a few tears shed-it's going to be a family project with me and my two brothers. We want to make a show truck out of her. They are going to take care of mechanical problems and I will be putting up the dough! Can't wait-I'll let you know when it gets here! |
