Intermittent starter problem.
I have replaced the starter, the solenoid twice, the wire from ignition switch to solenoid, ignition switch...
Turn switch and...
starts the motor or clicks or nothing or spins without engaging...
next turn may repeat or change...
ambient or motor temperature makes no difference
battery is good and charged
battery cable to starter is good
starter and motor well grounded
battery terminals are clean
when it works the starter turns normally and the engine starts immediately
I am losing my mind!

double check all the connections on your new wire from the ignition switch to solenoid, and do the same with the cable connections on the starter solenoid. Just a click, indicates a solenoid problem/low voltage/or loose connection. spinning without engaging, internal starter problem, or bendix problem. most of it seems to point right at the starter, or the starter electrical connections, and is where I'd investigate further at this point. for instance pull a known good starter off another vehicle?
