Hi,
Is anybody familiar with this engine. Looks like a 383 but is a 361 heavy truck engine. Same stroke as a 383? Can it be bored to 383?
Thanks, Dennis.........

Dennis: just what is it you want to know? what are you doing or want to do? 361,383,400 are the same motor family, the B motor. the same stroke and crankshaft, diffirent bores. you can not bore one out to the other. the big truck motors are heavy duty with a forged heavy duty crank and bearings. car cranks will fit,but won't stand up long to the heavy loads and pounding. one big thing to watch out for is,is the end of the crank machined out for the pilot bushing for the pilot shaft on a standard tranny if you are putting it on. just bacause the hole is there doesn't mean it is finnished sized to the bushing. i know from working on a 55 plymouth V/8. chrysler used to rough bore the hole if it was used with an automatic but it is a little smaller than the bushing. this crank on Ebay might be just a car crank and might be for an automatic, not a standard tranny. if you want to know more, ask.

If you are talking about a 361 that is actually from a Dodge two-ton, and you want to stroke it to a 383 like what they put in the pickups and cars? My guess is no, the 361 is probably a flat deck motor. The same reason a 427 from a Chevy C70 isn't the same as a 427 from an Impala.

Thanks for the reply. Often with mopar a HP engine is a spin-off of a truck engine. Check this item number on ebay: 8023584178
Crankshaft fits 361 or 383 with 8-hole flange like a Hemi crank. I'm for sure if your hurting for a 426 max-wedge block, a 413 truck block with get it going again.
Thanks, Dennis......
