Thinking about buying a 48 Chevy pickup (or a 51, depending on which one is in better shape) to fix up as a daily driver/light load hauler/trailer puller.

Is $500 a decent price for a solid restorable pickup? Not running, but engine is loose and all the tin is there and decent or repairable.

Could someone point me to some good websites with info or stories/pictures of other 47-53 Chevy pickups?

Thanks a million!

Thanks to everyone for the websites, helped me learn a TON about the Advance Design Chevy pickups! Unfortunately, we cannot afford to buy the one I found at this time.

If anyone is interested in a 48 or 51 Chevy pickup, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the guy that has them. He also has a 51 IH and a 72 IH...

Steven, you'd better go buy that truck asap! Those bargains don't last, and you'll be kicking yer nether regions from now on. Sell off something--before somebody else gets there to look at it!
buddy, around where i live those old trucks don't last long!!

I just can't do it at this time. I already have too many projects sitting around. 51 IH, 51 Ford, 55 IH, W-9 tractor, and an H that needs some work yet. If I get all those fixed up I'll probably have over $20k invested!

And my Dad said if I brought it home he would resell it...

You might try chevyduty.com and lmc.com. They both have tons of parts and some links that may help you. Good luck.
