I got a '49 Willys CJ3A that is currently 6v Positive ground. They came from the factory as 6v Negative ground.

Does anyone know what it takes to convert it back?

My generator and voltage regulator are both bad. Can get a 6v Neg ground alternator for half the price of a 6v generator so looking at that option. Not really interested in converting it to 12v.

Thanks.

Not much to convert if you are going to a 6v alternator with built in regulator, just reverse the wires on the amp meter, and reverse the connections on the coil. Point side should be neg, Power side Pos.

Anything to worry about with the starter?

I had 54 ford. Put batt in backwards. Jumped it and drove it o ver a month. Would never have noticed except since I ldidn't polarize gen. it didn't charge.

No problem with the starter - it's going to turn the proper direction no matter which side is grounded.

Excellent! Thank you for the help. They don't know it yet but this is what my teenage kids will learn how to drive putting around the acreage this summer.

A pic for those interested:
