I have a 1978 Chevrolet C10 that it's horn doesn't work. A friend of mine that used a tool to test the horn and the horn does indeed work but it turns out that the problem might be with the horn contact in the steering wheel and somewhere along the electrical circuit of the horn. I replaced the horn contact with a new one and the horn still doesn't work. When I tried to put back on the steering wheel the horn contact made some sparks but the horn did not beep. What could my problem be? |

| I'm the guy that started this post, the problem with the horn. Anyways, I solved the problem!!! The contact that is spring loaded that's supposed to come in contact with the canceling cam was stuck and was not making contact with the contact ring. I put a couple of drops of all purpose oil to lubricate the spring loaded contact and now it works. Now the spring loaded contact comes up to the hon contact ring and makes proper contact. It took me about a total of 6 hours to solve the problem. It was a pain, and all just for a couple of drops of oil. |

| I remember that poorly engineered system, although in its day it was allright. after thinking back and remembering all of the stuck horns, I put a push button in my 71 c-20. It was better than playing with that 36 yr old hardware. Of course if you want originality, then thats a different story. |

| There could be bas contacts, or a broken wire. Clean all the wire connectors and put dielectric grease on them, including the parts in the steering wheel. The horn itself may have a poor contact where it bolts on, remove the horn, sand off the mountings and put dielectric grease on them. It doesn't take too much corrosion to insulate an electrical connection. |
