| How do you know the axles are locking in on their own ? Are you getting a 4wd indicator light, front drive shaft turning when you are in 2HI or what? Need more information. |

| 95 I think still has the thermal actuator to lock the front axle. Remove the actuator and inspect it to see if it retracts fully, if it is ,check that the axle shift plunger spring returns it to the unlocked position when you release it. The problem could also be a worn or broken shift fork, or worn spider and differantial gears or shaft. The axle locker only locks/unlocks one axle, the other is permanently attached and spins all internal differantial parts constantly when the front axle is unlocked. They see a lot of wear, my 92 K35 puts so much wear metal in oil that it looks like aluminum paint at each 30,000 mile change. Not a very good design. |
