Hi, my father-in-law recently gave me what he believes to be a late 40's Dodge dump truck. I found the ID tag under the hood and the model is CI-HA6-153. It says it is 16,000 GVW. I am trying to find out as much about this old dog as possible. I have a few pictures of the homecoming. She is ugly now, but give me time...
Does this model# mean anything to anybody? :D

Scott, your truck is an early 1954. You might think of joining the American Truck Historical Society. They are a great group of people that love trucks from pickups to semis and are very helpful. They also publish a super magazine and hold truck shows around the country. GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!!

I guess I should point out the difference in early '54 and others. That grille was first used in '54 and continued through '56. Mid year '54 they went to a wrap around windshield so the windshield and doors won't interchange with late '54 to '56. I'm unsure if '53 and older doors are the same as early '54s.

These trucks were made from 48-56 on the drivers door post there should be a plate with a serial #
That is equivalent to the vin # so run that and it will give you more information.

The Pilot House Dodges(B series) were made from 48-53. Body styles changed in '54. Yours is a D style and was the first Dbodge truck to use a curved windshield. Also check out the Antique Truck Club of America (antiquetruckclubofamerica.org) Good magazine, friendly folks. Good luck with the project.
