Mieh Kram 08-05-2009 17:40:52 24.119.26.25 32469 Report to Moderator	I have a 1969 Dodge D-600 cabover. The truck is in good shape but I plan to take the bed & hoist off for a newer truck. I have never seen another truck like this one. I plan to take it to the crusher unless anyone thinks it can be used. Should I try to part it out or sell whole? Also what engine is in it? I have heard it could be a 360 or 413. The distributor is on the front right side in at a 45 degree angle. I will try to send pictures in a few days. [Reply]  [Send Email]

I have a 5th wheel mounted on it and use it around the farm as a small semi tractor. Have only seen 1 other like it in our area. looks like the front of a 60's Dodge van.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Chrysler "wedge" big blocks were made in several different sizes, including 350 (1958 only), 361, 383 (in both low and high block versions), 400, 413, 426, and 440. If the engine in your truck is the one it came with, it is probably a 361, 383 or a 413. I am not sure I have ever seen a cabover Dodge of that era, only conventional cab models. If it is in good shape, I bet someone would give you more than you could get just selling it to the junkyard. Maybe it could be used again as a working truck, or maybe someone might want to restore it, considering its rarity. It wouldn't take that much effort to advertise the truck a little. I hate to see stuff just wasted. I am aghast that one of the parts of the government "clunker" program is that the engines and transmissions of the vehicles traded in must be destroyed rather than parted out or reused. It makes me sick! What a waste of cores for rebuilding, if nothing else.   [Reply]  [No Email]

If correct, I assume the theory is the old engine is gone, reducing fuel usage, but if your own engine is still good, and you can"t afford a newer car, trans etc pieces may still be in wrecking yards.   [Reply]  [Send Email]
