These blocks were some kind of chrome/cast and had a bad habit of getting air pockets in the casting. When it wears through, (or you bore through) you get water in that cylinder, and no number of new head gaskets will seal it. Like I said, from personal experience . . . .   [Reply]  [Send Email]

Look on your engine for an ID tag, maybe under paint (if rebuilt at some time) or dirt, or info sometimes stamped on a boss on the engine. Also look for truck tag for model of truck, often on firewall under hood or somewhere in cab or doorjambs, on outside under doors, etc. Truck model will tell what original engine was, but truckers love to drop in later, more powerful engines, so if no engine ID send olsens the truck model # and any casting numbers you can find on the engine.
