PaMnd 09-23-2009 21:37:59 74.216.71.40 32800 Report to Moderator	Hi: As stated in a previous question I have been successfull in operation the hoist valve. Now when I move the lever the valve goes in and out but the hoist does not lift. I wanted to check the fluid level but I cannot see a resevoir. Is there one? From the hoist pump I have two hoses running to the cylinder. Iwas expecting to see some hoses running to a resevoir. Is the cylinder also the resevoir? Thanks PaMnd [Reply]  [No Email]

With the PTO shaft turning I can see end of the pump shaft also turning. (I am assuming that the knob on the back of the pump just below the PTO is the pump shaft.) The valve does go in and out. Often you will find a tank containing fluid nearby the pump. At the very least the tank is connected to the pumps inlet. If there isn't a tank and both hoses run to the cylinder then the cylinder IS the tank. In this case you should be able to climb into the bed of the truck and find a removable door near the top of the cylinder. The cylinder should have a plug somewhere near the top where you can add fluid. You've probably already heard this before, but it's worth mentioning that you should NEVER get under a raised dump bed unless it is SECURED. There is often a short arm along the side of the frame that fits into a little niche in the dump bed to hold it up. Best of luck, John   [Reply]  [Send Email]

Yes, you are correct in that there are just two hoses to the pump. One fairly large and one smaller. The cylinder does look like there is some bolts near the top just under the box where I cannot get to without lifting the box. Unfortunately the box floor is one piece steel with no door.
