Ken Olandese 10-04-2009 07:01:44 99.201.183.182 32879 Report to Moderator	I've seen a 1965 chevy truck with a gas tank mounted between the drive shaft and frame and would like to know if anyone has heard of that before. I need to know from what vehicle is this tank out of and what was used for the fuel door through the fender in front of the tire. I believe the owner said it was out of a ford ranger...what year i don't know. Can anyone help me?? [Reply]  [Send Email]
ericlb 10-05-2009 06:55:18 12.189.32.37 32888 Report to Moderator	Re: Using a ranger fuel tank between frame and drive shaft o in reply to Ken Olandese, 10-04-2009 07:01:44   ken most modern trucks have the fuel tank in this location, except for 70's and 80's square body chevys, the thing you need to know is how much clearance you have between the drive shaft and frame rail on the '65 then look at all the inports as well as the ranger, most held 12 to 15 gallons and the shapes were different so its kind of a eyeball thing on what will fit and give you the most gallons of fuel on board, also look in places like jegs ect there is a kit out there that mounts the tank between the frame rails behind the rear axle[ like 60's thru80's full size gm cars] with a filler door flush mounted in the bed floor   [Reply]  [No Email]

At the very least, install a drive shaft loop so that the forward-most part of the drive shaft doesn"t sling outward in the event of a failure.   [Reply]  [No Email]
