Need to take vaccum line off to set timing 6 before. The line is not that stiff so is no problem to reconnect. What your doing is rite. Vaccum advance may be bad interanaly. Spring broken or other dist problems. Dampner ring may have slipped but the ones Iv seen usally fell of in very short time.
