I have a 75 IH loadstar tandemn farm truck. I have researched and think it has a 478 cu.in. gas engine, 5spd. and 4 spd. aux. trans. live tandem,. I am having problems getting it to run right. Has a problem a idle to about 2200 rpm and kicks in and runs ok a higher rpm. I need help in finding some parts or info. on the truck, engine, carb, etc. I would also like to entertain putting the petronix ignition in the distributor. I am needing to get this truck in shape to use due to wet weather currently we are having. THanks for any help.Kenny |

| if it were me,i think i would check for broken valve springs.those old binders were great for that.easy to do,use a pair of water pump pliars and turn the valve springs counterclockwise. |

| | Kenny, There is a board that specializes in Internationals. I'm sure you will find lots of information for your 1800. I've got an early 80's S1724 which shares many of the same components as the Loadstar series. They can either tell you what engine you have or tell you how to find out. All Internationals came with a "Line Setting Ticket" from the factory. Do you happen to have the one for your 1800? If not you can get a photostatic copy from a related site, "Binder Books". They offer most factory service manuals as well. Best of luck, John |

| Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak or a partially plugged idle circuit in the carburator. Try removing the air cleaner and revving it up. Hold you hand over the air intake to choke it off until just before it stall-sometimes it will pass the obstruction if that is the cause. Also check to make sure that the carb mounting bolts and screws that hold the carb together are tight. |
