The pilot hole dia. is .984"
Clutch spline count is 6
I'm not sure what to measure to answer your question on diameter of hole for clutch. The OD of the splines measure 1.245" for the clutch disc. Of course there is the main drive gear retainer (quill) and clutch release sleeve with throwout bearing. Let me know if you need any dimensions off of these parts. There is the ball bearing ST 243-A (1.770" ID) that fits on the shaft next to the gear at the front of the trans case.
There are 17 teeth on the gear.
Overall length is 9 21/32".
In reading your first reply to my question, is the IH H-41 trans identical to the Warner T-9 trans? I looked at an old Motor's Manual and they sure look similar in the drawings of them.
Let me know if you need more dimensions, etc. Thank you for your interest and Help!

Here are some #s, for IHC part # 27078H or Borg Warner WT163-16G maindrive gear. 9 21/32 overall length, pilot hole .983, 6 spline for clutch hub, 17 teeth on end for cluster. Does not say the diameter of 6 splines into clutch hub. Yours sounds like 1 1/4".
Here is something interesting.
ebay seller dmedennis has a maindrive gear part #
WT251-16 Dodge #1091489.
This gear is a wee bit shorter and has maybe 10 splines with 1 3/8 diameter. Pilot hole diameter may not be correct.
Advance adapters sells pilot bearings or make a sleeve to bush up to size .984 and I think Fords about same age used 10 splines with 1 3/8 hub size/
Next problem would the shaft fit thru your clutch release sleeve and will bearing ST243A fit shaft?
My BW catalog does not say Dodge use T9 but IHC and Dodge shared some part #s for other transmission parts
Have fun!

Thank you for all of the information you have come up with. I wonder what the chances are for finding an IHC #27078H or Borg Warner WT163-16G maindrive gear? Do you have any place you may suggest to look, or just keep watching Ebay? I am not in a hurry to find one, so have time to look.
The one on Ebay from seller dmedennis is interesting. The 10 splines and probably 1 3/8" diameter would be the problem. A bushing could be made for the pilot shaft.
Thanks again!

For some reason, I can't make the link work. Is there any other link or way to get into it?

Left click, hold down and high light address. Let up. Right click down and choose "open in new window".
That is the way Firefox browser works. Firefox
If you have IE it would be similar I hope.
You could copy and paste into new window too.
Web site opened for me I just checked.

I found it now. I'm just kind of slow sometimes. That is an interesting parts list. Looks like it shows 2 different maindrive gears #62907H and 72978H could have been used. Wonder what the difference is between them. Both show 17 teeth and from the picture looks like they would be 6 spline, but wonder about the other dimensions. Thanks for finding and sharing that parts list.
