Hello all, I recently acquired a 29 Ford Model A that had been in storage for about 25 years without being touched. Of course, after sitting the motor was stuck. So we soaked the cylinders with diesel and mystery oil, and got it to turn over about a quarter of a turn before it froze again. Anybody ever had this happen before? I know they said that on the T"s the starter would hang up and act like it was frozen, didn"t know if this happened on A"s too or if I just hit another rust/sticky spot. Thinking its stuck again, I am soaking it with diesel and mystery oil again along with a wheel jacked up and putting it in high gear, rocking it daily. I"ve never had this happen before when freeing up a motor, so any other input? Thanks in advance!

You could have stuck valves too. Don"t force it. Pull the head and see whats happening. Not that hard on a Model A.

This doesn't help your problem, but model A starters can lock too but rocking the rear wheels will free it. I had a V4 Wisconsin break a piston on a slug of powdered rust it inhaled from the manifold when I spun it over with a big drill.

When you turned you pushed the pistons that were down up on the rust in the cylinder. ATF and penetrant in the cylinders should help. Try to turn it backwards.

Could be cylinder full of oil, or wasp or mice nest in cylinder, or clutch, or flywheel or trans locked, see of you can turn it back wards......lots to consider....
