Itnworks exactly like the rear which has no locking hubs. The hubs are there to save driveline wear and about 1 MPG when not using 4wd. I leave mine locked all winter unless I am taking a 50 mile or longer roads trip.

a good eplannation of how they work and why limited slip or locking is better, isin on these two videos.

Thanks for the links ObsoElitist I shared it with my son. That makes things crystal clear. This kid is already bugging me to find another differential with limited slip in it. Is this how it starts?
Well Thanks for the links and your time is greatly appreciated.
