Looking for a gas tank for a 1962 Ranchero (Falcon body). Friends grandfather has a restored one (been sitting in basement since 1992 since restoration), and wants to get it running. I dropped the original gas tank on it this past weekend to clean it, and saw that it had old gas in it plus it was so weak in the top corner that my finger pushed right through. It is trash. I can't find anything online. Found ONE gas tank that is for it but it is $300.00 Does anyone have any other suggestions, or know where I can find a good used one or a new one reasonably.
THANKS!

I own a 62 ranchero with a 289. Check with Dearborn classics they are a vendor of falcon parts. There are several others if you look. Also check Tanks Inc.

0ne thing in your favor, the falcon shared the same platform as the early mustang, and mustang parts are available online, do a search for a gas tank for a '64 or 65 mustang and compare that pic to your tank, im betting it will work with very little changes, if the filler wont let it work, you can get a universal fuel tank from places that have parts for street rods and classic trucks, look at early fords they make a kit to remove the cab tanks and replace them with a tank which mounts under the rear end of the bed, the filler usually comes up theu the bottom of the bed, but you can change that too if you dont want the cap in the bed

Might look into adapting one from another model. I recently ran into an article where many are using mustang tanks in the F100 pickups mounted between the frame rails. More info out on some of the Ford pickup sites. Betting an 18 gallon tank from a mustang might fit with some fabrication, but I am not familiar with the Falcon or Ranchero.
