I have found many times it is easier to pull the truck bed off instead of dropping the gas tank. Believe me it is not fun to drop a tank and yes I have done it a few times and not fun. Pulling the bed is like 6 or 8 bolts and then a couple strong guys can slide it back and out of the way

I need to drop the tank to replace it as it is leaking badly. Also I'll be working alone. If I did try to remove the bed I'm not sure the bolts will come out and if they snap off I think I would be in a world of hurtinh. I live in Mid-Michigan so things get pretty rusted. I'll have the tank empty or almost empty before dropping it. Have a floor jack, atv jack and transmission jack at my disposel for lowering it.

They are pretty easy to drop but putting it back in is where you run into problems. Knew a guy who dropped his tank in a Chev of about the same year but he had to have help to up it back in
