I have a 1980 bronco with a c6 transmission, transmission only has about 10k miles on it due to the truck sitting for a long time because of engine issues. I'd like to be able to replace the front pump seal (atleast i think thats what its called please click the link to see the picture of the seal) I don't think it leaks but its easy enough to get to. Now i have no experience with automatic transmissions, i have plenty with manuals though, so what am i getting into here? i've read on other forums that the seal can be replaced without tearing most of the transmission apart but nothing really explaining how to do it. Any advice? or know where i can get a book for this transmission showing me what i'd be getting into? Also i've already tried transmission shops, none of the ones around me even what to touch this thing. Thanks, and sorry about having to use another website to post the picture, for what ever reason this forum wont let me post a picture. >> https://imgur.com/a/ocALUtq <<

When you put the torque convertor back in rotate it and make sure it goes completely in till it almost touches the trans case.

Some have failed to get the convertor to line up with the pump and no fully back.

When they install the trans or engine "which ever is out" they end up breaking the pump in the trans.

The engine and trans should mate completely together without having to be drawn together with bolts, if it doesn't the convertor probably isn't lined up with the pump.

When you pull the torque convertor out, other than the 2 splined shafts, the pump seal will be right there. Most times they are red, pry it out and carefully replace it with a new one.
