generator/reg. tester

I have an antique regulator tester by United Motors Service, Inc.; I believe a Delco predecessor. I have found procedures for using the tester in copies of old Chevrolet shop manuals. I used the tester many years ago on a 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton, but the truck was sold years ago and the shop manual is gone. Any help appreciated, as I want to help a friend with his 1942 Chevy car. (My United Motors tester is a model 100, serial number 1128). I have not had success downloading shop manuals from web sites. Thanks much.
