You are correct. your cylinders are 1 to 6, front to back. Your firing order is probably cast into the cylinder head somewhere, but it is 153624. To find number one on your distributor cap, take the spark plug out of number 1 cylinder, place your thumb over the open plug hole, and have a helper turn the engine over( by hand is best, or jack the truck up and turn a back wheel in gear, but you can hit the starter if you have to) until you feel the compression against your thumb. Now look at the position of your distributor rotor. It should be pointing at or close to where your number 1 plug wire should be. Since you already know the direction of the distributor rotation, just install the wires starting at number one, and follow the firing order in the direction of rotation. Steve
