I am looking at buying one but know little about them. Those old Blazers were very rare around here so any help or things to look for would be appreciated.......I have older Chevy and GMC pickups so do the same basic things to look for on them apply to Blazers also......It is a '70 with a 350 coupled to a 4 speed, 4x4.......

Thanks for the help
TP

Pretty good old trucks. I've had 2 '72 blazers in the past. The fiberglass rear glass frame is bad about cracking. Check the top for cracking also. Check the area where the steering box bolts to the frame for cracking around the bolt holes.

Both mine were CST models. Had the chrome gear levers and A/C.

Should be a cast iron transfer case with gears. make sure it shifts ok. Check the lockout front hubs to make sure they are free.

the 73 and earlier Blazers used a box/double floor pan in the front floor area, to stiffen the body when the top was removed, they were prone to filling up with dirt and rusting. In 74 they put a permanent roof over the front seat to eliminate this problem. Its an area I would look over real close, also for rust anywhere in the rocker panels or lower front door hinge area. While I never messed with them...I always hear something about the 'rocker box' or something like that. I know it is a structural piece and if it is bad, it basicly needs a new tub. Hopefully someone else can explain a bit better.
