6.2 Chevy Diesel going strong...well going
Posted by Mopower on May 05, 2004 at 10:20:03 from (184.108.40.206):
I just read about the fella that is considering a GM engine swap to a diesel. I inherited an 83 Custom Deluxe light 3/4 ton with 6.2. It has 200,000 miles on it and the body is almost gone but the 4x4 and engine work fine. (3.42 axle ratio) It uses no oil and I got 25mpg on the hwy (19mpg in town). It does require glow plugs once every few years Grandpa said. That being said, my advice to the 454 guy is KEEP YOUR 454. The 6.2 is a GUTLESS WONDER. Serves me ok for a run-around truck. If a fella switches to a 6.2, there is a turbo kit they make. Some didn't last, mine is still healthy.
