Check for a spark off the coil wire when cranked. If none look at coil, distributor (lower end) and associated wiring. If yes, look at rotor, cap and plug wires. You can check the coil (in place) by first disconecting all the wires. Then run a test lead (power) to the coil, a ground wire, breaking intermittently will cause the coil to fire. These are positive ground electrical systems, so I believe, power goes to to (-) and the ground is (+). Been many years so maybe someone out there, or your manual will confirm same. Remember that your points are essentially doing automatically what you are doing with the manual interupted ground wire to the coil, as above.
