On the Chevy tall deck big block, verses car/light truck big block, the block is actually a little taller than the other. The pistons are taller for an added ring. The extra ring is there becouse with the lower gearing on heavy duty trucks, the engine will be spun at max RPM on the freeway.
The 366 and 427 are the 2 tall deck engines. If you are wanting a big block, these things are not what you want. They only have a couple after market parts that bolt on, and there power out put and level will leave you disapointed.
However, if you have tons of $ to throw into it, you can make a huge monster mountian moter out of it. Many racers do this, however, the cost will scare you into a coma.
