Re: IH Horsepower and Torque SpecsPosted by Denny Frisk on April 21, 2002 at 09:21:55 from (216.165.145.10): In Reply to: IH Horsepower and Torque Specs posted by James in SD on April 21, 2002 at 06:57:34:
I don't have the exact IH Spec's, but I would guess IH rated that engine about 140-150 HP,maybe 160 and the torque peak is at a low RPM, probably 2000 rpm. That engine was avail. in straight trucks that would gross up to 24,000#'s. Should be able to haul Your H AND F-12 BOTH if your trailer isn't too heavy! IH rated those engines VERY conservatively, They are made to be driven like a BIG TRUCK Gas engine, Wind 'Em Up and let it sing! With Your 4.10 gears You won't break any speed or economy records, and it may not seem as powerful as a 350 Chevy or 351 Ford of the same era, But If It's in decent shape You can haul Your tractors to shows & park Your Tow rig right next to Your tractors! I hope it's IH Red! Tow safely, Make sure You've got PLENTY of brakes on the truck AND the trailer! I think '74 was about the last year IH made that size truck!
