I'd check two things. Make sure that the timing tab style and harmonic balancer style match. there's two different applications for them, the timing ends up being somewhere around 30 degrees off if the wrong combination is used.
The other thing is double check the timing gear timing. Sounds like it could have been set one tooth off. Loren
