The reading on the pyrometer will depend on just where the probe is installed , when i install them it is behind the turbo about 4 inches that way if the probe melts off it falls down the pipe and ratteles around in the pipe . Some install before the turbo and if it melts off it will go thru the turbo . As for a safe reading behind the trubo 950 is about all the higher ya want to go before the turbo then 1150 1200 as that should put the temp on the pistons at around 1350 1450 real colse to meltdown.
