In stock form, the high deck engine won't give you any more power, low end or otherwise than a standard low deck 427 and it's about 120 lbs heavier. The .400 thou higher deck of the truck block was used to provide room for a 4 ring piston to provide a bit longer life in h.d truck usage. It didn't make any more power, and in fact made less, even at low rpm, due to having lower compression pistons than even the standard 427 passenger car engines. In addition , the engine won't rev well or make power much beyond 3500-4000 rpm due to heavy, higher drag 4 ring pistons and weak cam timing. It's not a bad engine per se, in it's intended application, but not a good choice for what you want to do.

The only reason to use one is maybe if you were going to use a .200 longer stroker crank. That would allow you to use stock 427 low deck pistons on stock length rods. By the way .200 plus 3.76 only gives you a stroke of 3.96 - still .040 shorter than a *stock* 4.00 in stroke low deck 454, so that nixes any advantage there. For the price of a custom .200 thou stroker crank, you could buy or build a complete hi-po 454 motor that would have more bottom end power and still be able to rev and make way more mid and top end power. Basicly, in my opinion, you are wasting your time and money trying to use this engine.
