Mark,I can say with 99% certainty that what you have is a Ford truck Y block 332 engine(built 62-63 maybe early 64 or changed from a 62-63 model?) It should be 3.8 bore X 3.66 stroke. yours at 3.84 bore may be worn or bored .040 over? The 62-63 302-332 Y block truck engines have the valve covers attached with 2 bolts through the cover and the distributor is at the left rear of the engine.
What gets confusing is that Ford used the same CID on different engine families at different times.
Ford built a passenger car 332 (58-59 only)bore 4.00 X stroke 3.30 which is a FE series engine(distributor in front center and valve covers having 5 bolts around the rim.) These engines were never used in heavy trucks.
Ford also built the 302 small block (bore 4.00 X stroke 3.00)from 68 and later. The small block 302 was never used on a heavy truck, only cars and F350 or smaller light trucks. Distributor in front center with valve cover attached with 6 bolts around the rim.
The Y block 292 and Y block 332 have .050 difference in bore size. Check the gasket maker to see if they fit both engines.
