I have a 2wd 85 F350 with an overheated 6.9 Diesel engine and C-6 automatic. Going in will be a 300-6 + C-6 automatic from an 85 F150. We don't have emissions checks here so I don't have to worry about any wiring going to any carbs, plus I'm putting a 2 barrel carb on it. The mechanical part of the engine swap I can handle without much difficulty. What I'm unsure of is the engine electrical side. No way am I going to swap over the wiring harness from another truck even though I own several F150s with 300-6s in them. I've posted on other sites and also called MSD ignition products and a wholesaler who sells MSD stuff. Tech guy from MSD says get #6200 box and a plug that plugs into the stock distibutor. The wholesale company quoted me about $210 for that and plug wires. A person on another site said I would also need a distributor from MSD,,, OR get a duraspark distributor and coil and make my own wiring harness. What years were the duraspark ignitions made? Or install points, don't know those years either. Wiring a 4 wire for trailer lights is about as good as I can get without detailed instructions. I don't need lots of power on this truck though I do have a header ready to go onto the engine,,, and I can't spend much money on it. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Boyd.
