Go to google, and search for:

Small Block Chevy ID

That will get you a bunch of sites with ID info.

http://www.mortec.com/ is a great casting number ID site.

You can also search for Chevy VIN decoder sites, and (if the engine is original) find out what engine it is from the VIN code.
