One side of ignition switch contacts could be worn. one other way to know for sure is to put 12v yo coil+ and crank over. If it starts, it is probably a faulty switch. A friend of mine has a 83 F150 with a duraspark III ignition. toatally different. Is your timing adjustable at the distributor housing? if not, you have this odd ball ignition. Your problem is probalby a bad EEC relay. I doubt this style setup was used on big blocks though.
