Since the trucks were available with the same engine it is possible but I'd find another junker first that I could steal any needed parts from first. While 87,000 is low for a diesel you need to remember these are "firetruck miles" which usually means if you triple them you'll come up to actual life used. Still sounds like a steal for it though if you can acually get it that cheap. I agree though will other post to keep the ambulance except I'd cut the rear portion off, close in back of cab and install a nice flatbed. You'll have a heavier truck with an great turning radius - may never go back to "real" pickup if do it that way.
