Starting Problem on 69 FordPosted by Dane Wence on April 25, 2002 at 19:44:35 from (208.218.73.16):
Hi all i have a 69 f-250 with a 360 that has a 390 crank and cam, basically a stroked 360 with a big cam, my problem is, i got a starter for it out of an 81 pinto, they matched and about 3 weeks after i put it in, it would make a whining noise and i would have to wait a sec or so before it would engage, it did not get any worse, until one day it would not engage at all and i can not get it to do anything, i have beaten on it to try and free it up, today I took it out and hooked it up to a battery and it worked flawlessly. so i put it back in and it did the same thing, do you think it could be then point where it touches the bell housing ( the ground) or what. thanks for any help
