Bryan,
No Cummins will bolt to a Cat bellhousing, and vice versa. However if the Cat and the Cummins have the same bellhousing mounts in the frame the engines will swap. You may have to change the front motor mount. Please let me give you a piece of advise though, if you have a 470 Cummins, please dont change it out for a 1674. You could probably get 470 out of the Cat but would have to spend a lot of money to do it, and the Cummins already has it. I own a diesel truck shop and my dad owned it for 32 years before that and I have been working on these things for over 20 years not including what he taught me. The Cat is a good engine but not worth changing, unless you had maybe a 3408 in that case is a differnt story. If you research enough you can make 600 horse from a 855 Big Cam Cummins and do it reliably for about half the cost of Cat and will not get that from a 1694 without a lot of try. Also be sure it is a 470 Cummins, the only way it could be if it is stock is if it is a Red Head N14, no manual 855 Big Cam was rated 470. And I wouldnt change a electronic motor out for a 30 year old Cat. If you really want a conversation piece go for a 12V-71 Detroit twin turbo which are my specialty and can pump over 800 horse out of and still drive on the road, just drinks a whole lot of fuel. But for your question bolting a Cat engine to a Cummins bellhousing is like trying to put a Ford head on a Chevy motor. Hope I could be of some help to you. Adam.
