I miss my old 80 Ford 1/2 ton. *sniff* It had a 300 straight 6, and a 4 speed overdrive. It was geared so ridiciously high, you had to slip the clutch, slip the clutch, slip the clutch just to get moving. But It pulled 23mpg on the highway, no one believes me but It did. If I'd have had the equipment and experience I have now back then, I'd have kept it and rolling restored it. *Sigh* The poor body was SO rusted though, and I literally got it stuck going DOWNHILL on some mud one time, such poor traction with 2wd and those high gears. It would only top out at 75 floored in overdrive, mighta gone faster in 3rd even, probably to much gear for that 1bbl 6 to pull.
Still, for higway crusin', it was hard to beat......maybe I'll have to get one and start restoring, if only I can find one that isn't rusted down to the engine block!
