Re: Dana 70 gearsPosted by Clay on September 30, 2004 at 21:12:58 from (205.188.116.204): In Reply to: Dana 70 gears posted by J on February 13, 2003 at 09:02:26:
I have a 2 complete dana 70 axles. One of them is from an 1968 M-725 ambulance jeep w/5.86 gears and the other on is an 80's srw dana 70 1-u rear axle with 4.10 gears. My question is can I swap the gears from the m-725 dana's axle to the ford's axle. I am wanting to have much lower gears in the ford axle but need to know what I need use in order to achieve this. Will I need to use the m-725 ring and pinion and carrier and axle shafts in the fords axle housing while retaining the smaller pinion bearing from the ford axle also. Thank you for your help and look forward to your answer.
