My boys work oilfield and drive both. The Ford is more of a truck - heavier feeling, stiffer suspension, the Chevy is a little smoother, nicer handling, and doesn't handle a big load quite as well. The Ford won't get the mileage you are with the duramax. Power - it's a tie both engines are strong.
