It has been about 10 years since I did the 460 swap,so I may have forgotten a few details. The transmission I used was a New Process 4SPD(435 ?)It was a salvage yard unit from I suspect a 1/2-1 ton of the mid 60's,as it did not have a mounted parking brake like a 1-1/2 ton or larger normally has. I do not remember having to modify the pilot bushing as I seem to remember the transmission having the same diameter pilot stub as the car/light truck trans. One pilot shaft problem I remember with Ford swaps was that the big block trans had a shorter input shaft than a smallblock trans, which would hardly engage the pilot bushing of a small block engine. The fix for this was to get the extra wide jobber pilot bushing(about 1 inch wide I seem to remember)This extra wide bushing installed part way in with aprox 3/8 inch of the bushing left outside the crankshaft, would then extend far enough to the rear to support the short "big block" trans input shaft. The 460 uses the small diameter "smallblock" bushing, but I do not remember if they need the long or short input shaft in the trans. If the trans you have ends up only extending 1/4 inch into the pilot bushing, then this smallblock engine to big block trans adapter trick may help you.
