Its been many years since I've worked on a space heater. This is what I recall: Could have a pickup filter in the tank? Cap must have a air vent. You can check for spark just like you would check a lawn mower. Water in the tank? Most use a air pump to push air through the nozzle and that makes a suction to pick up the fuel. Has a hole in the center of the air pressure adjustment screw, put your finger over the hole to check max air pressure at the test plug. (1/8" pipe plug at rear). Air pressure is around 5-6 psi. The filter on the rear is the air filter for the air pump.
