I know what you mean about the NV4500HD,"mutch too salty for my cheapo tastes"too TP.That trany.
and the kit to put it in my 91 dodge diesel is over $2300.00.(from advanceaddapters.com Whitch is still mutch cheaper than from dodge).Ive been thinking about doing something like what your doing to my truck. My truck's problem is the Getrag (aka-Getrash)Mod.360 5-speed.They have numerous problems with 5th gear-OD,(i wont bore you with details)When it is used very mutch under towing conditions. So im thinking if i had an OD on 4th gear it may solve the problems before they start. But theres also another solution.Theres a company in west virginia who makes a retrofit unit for pickups that doubles your gears(eg.if you have a 5-speed it will give you 10-speeds)and depending on whitch end you use for input it will either give you overdrive or underdrive.Im sorry i forget the company's name but if anyone who reads this is interestd e-mail me and i will get it to you.Good-luck with your chevy.Let me know how it turns-out,I may be in the same boat before long.
