If you swapped a new brass float for the old foam float, the float settings listed on the insert with the kit are going to be wrong, likewise if you replaced a brass float with a foam float. Usually the setting ends up putting the float about 1/8 to 1/4 inch too high so there is no stopping the fuel. Some kits too used a fiber gasket under the needle seat between the brass and the body casting- these leak. the better type is the aluminum type with a rubber layer on each side (in extreme cases I have reused the old one with good results) and the seat needs to be torqued tightly to the point where you swear the seat is going to strip out the casting. You also need to make sure that the metering rod is actually in the right hole, and that the brass screw in portion is tight. Another issue is the brand of the rebuild kit. My best results were with "Standard/Hygrade", and worst results with "Jiffy7"
