1968 rear end swap

My daughter and I just purchased a 1968 SWB chevy truck. The previous owner installed a rear end out of a late model truck, and they only bolted it to the frame with u-bolts. What steps do you take to convert the frame to leaf springs? Can we modify the rear-end to use the coil springs instead? We're clueless, can anyone help?
