Thankyou Bob M, like John said if 6 volts work why change and thats a good point. The last 6 volt battery lasted 6-7 yrs, it was never used in the winter months but I would run a trickle charge through it every couple of months. The '47 is an original low mile vehicle and has good compression and starts quite well except if its shut off hot its a bit more stubborn, but I'm sure you know what them old L-heads are like.
