We have a 3500 chevy 2 horse horsevan with a 5.7 liter(350 cu inch) motor. The guage is reading really high, and when completely off, never goes all the way down, so I figured start cheap and replace the oil sender unit. Only problem where is it? I have looked all under the truck around the oil pan and can't find it, found one sender and unplugged it, but started it up and the guage still responded to reving up the engine. I have read some stuff on guages slipping, where the needle is always too far, but how would one check these since they have the doughnut things and not needles. It started doing this after a shop, which I hate but the boss (my dad) has been convinced its good by his manager is good, put in a delco refurbished motor, which I personally think are pieces of s*** since it now sounds like a rods about to go through the block or really bad valve lash when its pulling. Can you believe that the shop convinced hime to get a motor after ONE HEAD had a small crack around the valve seat causing a loss of compression in that cylinder, and he wonders why this engine was almost as cheap as a new head??? He'll find out when he ends up going to a junk yard to find an original chevy motor to replace those piece of crap AC delco rebuilds. Sorry, got a little carried away with the story, but anyway, where would the oil sender be and what else would be causing the oil pressure guage to be "spiked" when it warms up? Hurst
